The Australian Taxation Office ePublishing Review & Strategy Development

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) established the ePublishing Group to develop and implement a web content management environment to support the quality control of internet based information and service delivery. As part of the establishment of this group, a major project was undertaken to internally develop and content creation and publishing system.

The Challenge:
As a result of lengthy development and implementation, adoption and usage within the various division and issues around the technology solution, a project was established to review the ePublishing, project, team and associated business processes.

The Solutions:
IDEAS! was engaged to provide a consulting team to undertake the evaluation, provided a Post Implementation Review Report and develop a Strategy for the ongoing evolution and improvement of the ePublishing environment.
The project required the evaluation of existing web publishing infrastructure, processes, support service, and technologies that supported corporate web information and service delivery. Extensive stakeholder consultation, interviews and workshops were conducted over a period of three months and resulted in an evaluation report.
Based on the evaluation report, executive consultation was undertaken to develop the a Strategy that focuses on leveraging the existing investment and providing an implementation plan that addressed the breadth of Business, Human and Technology requirements of the organisation.
To assist in addressing the issues of adoption and uptake, IDEAS! undertook and extensive communication exercise to assist in the education of users and managers.
As a result of this project, IDEAS! was engaged to undertake consulting activities to assist in the consultation, design and strategy development for transition to web based work process. Our extensive experience in CMS and workflow based solutions for quality control processes, enable IDEAS! to develop an environment focused on all aspects of the internal work processes.
