IDEAS! Helps Victorian Clients Achieve Whole of Government Content Management Goals

July 2003: Meeting Whole of Victorian Government Web Recommendations

As a best practice initiative in Web Content Management, Multimedia Victoria has provided a Content Management Requirements Definition report and a list of definitions for State Government purchasing.

IDEAS! has provided Victorian Government Departments and Agencies with mission-critical Content Management solutions for the past seven years.

We are pleased to say that we provide solutions meeting the identified core requirements, and substantive optional requirements. This is achieved with little customisation in a rapid and cost-effective timeframe.

Creation & Publishing
Content Management systems implemented by IDEAS! are designed to:

        • Enable Agency staff to effectively develop and maintain content for web services.
        • Ensure all web content has appropriate Agency approval. This is critical when managing the creation of content by multiple parties.
        • Ensure a streamlined publishing process, eliminating, where possible, manual handling of production drafts and facilitating online review and approval.

IDEAS! specialises in providing business value from technology projects, based on understanding the human role in technology uptake. For this reason we rapidly deliver effective solutions to many Victorian government clients, including VicRoads, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, and many others. We currently provide Content Management solutions to more than 80 Victorian Government business units.

Presentation & Discovery
IDEAS! design and architect sites to:
        • Ensure that information and services are presented in standard Agency styles.
        • Ensure users are able to successfully find relevant information via searching or browsing, with a minimum of effort.

IDEAS! has played a key role in support of metadata standards within Australia, including participation in international Dublin Core Metadata meetings. This matches our goal of providing a full range of business, human and technical services for information management. This approach is also seen in the wide range of information and data audit services we have provided to government customers throughout Australia.

Technical
All the products that we implement are designed to:
        • Comply with industry standards so that the system is robust and integrates with existing platforms and applications.
        • Ensure the product meets the Agency requirements for reliability and performance.
        • Ensure the product meets Agency security standards.
        • Facilitate the effective and controlled management of content.
        • Provide comprehensive web metrics reporting on site usage and management.

We work with a wide range of technologies. Our IBM Centre of Excellence is based in Melbourne, while our Microsoft Centre of Excellence is based in Brisbane. We implement and support our own award-winning Content Management solution (NetEnable), and other CMS solutions according to customer needs.

Interdependencies
Ensuring interoperability supports the primary drivers of:
        • Exchanging information with other organisations, and to enable being part of a portal environment with other online service providers.
        • Providing seamless information exchange across internal systems and integrate with existing business processes and infrastructure.

IDEAS! has extensive experience in the integration of Content Management and other systems. Our groundbreaking integration of Tourism Queensland with the National Tourism Data Warhouse was implemented rapidly by our experienced technical team.

Support & Training
Key to the success of any implementation is the support and training to:
        • Provide comprehensive support so that the Web CMS continually performs at its optimal level.
        • Ensure that staff are proficient in contributing content and managing the site.

Our well-documented systems enable clients to develop strong publishing experience, and then continue meeting their own further training needs in house or through our ongoing support. Our business coaching methodology also provides the management skills training necessary for Government organisations to further develop their internal capacities. Our SafetyNet services provide long-term hosting, support or maintenance to key government clients, including the Australian Taxation Office, The Australian Antarctic Division, Tourism Queensland and VicRoads.
